UT2003 Max settings

Now looking at the cards with their best possible image quality settings. For the Radeons, this is 6x AA and 16x AF. For the FX, it's 8xS AA and 8x AF. We're not really comparing like for like here. The 8xS setting for the FX is truly savage. Bear that in mind when comparing results.

And now 1280x960x32

The 9700 Pro does quite well at 1280x960x32 Max image settings. The FX Ultra, with its savage settings, comes out looking rather poor in comparison. 1600x1200x32 produced some erroneous results so it's excluded until further testing can be done.

To see what kind of images are produced at each card's respective maximum image enhancement settings, click here for the Radeon 9800 Pro at 1280x960x32 with 6x FSAA and 16x AF and here for the FX at 8xS AA and 8x AF. Note that the FX's 8xS setting is kind of silly. It seriously hurts performance at the expense of very little visual gain. The Radeon is not 3.5x faster than the FX, as the FPS counter might suggest.
