3DMark05

Starting off with a look at 3DMark05, which will give us a reasonable idea of potential DirectX9 performance.

The results are presented in performance order. ATI's Radeon X1800 XT 512MB takes top honours in the basic test and the second red line, representing ASUS and HIS Radeon X1800 XL 256MB cards' performance, is just a touch lower than the XFX GeForce 7800 GT's. Still, 5,000+ marks at 1600x1200 bodes well for gaming performance.

Adding in 4x antialiasing and 16x anisotropic filtering for better image quality, we see that both Radeon X1800 XL 256MB cards sneak ahead of the XFX 7800 GT 256MB card and encroach on GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB territory.
