Praised both by critics and gamers, the latest instalment of the Total War series takes strategy enthusiasts back to 16th-century Japan and presents a lavish blend of 3D real-time battles and turn-based management.
The performance increase isn't quite so visible in Total War: Shogun 2. In this game, the average number of frames per second is barely any better than a reference HD 7850, and full-HD performance is a little disappointing for a Ā£200 card.
PC gaming remains the place to be for maximum eye candy, but expect to pay more if you're hoping to turn on all the visual treats.
