DiRT 2 - DX11
Same game. This time with the DX11 path. Only nine GPU setups can run the test.
Benchmarks
The higher frequencies come into play, and Sapphire's HD 5970 TOXIC 4GB extends its lead over a reference alternative. Performance jumps 19 per cent at 2,560x1,600, but you do pay an additional £200 for the privilege.
What's interesting here is that a true HD 5870 CrossFire configuration - i.e. dual cards - offers superior performance despite lower GPU clock speeds.
Such is the maturity of CrossFire that a pair of HD 5850s continue to look mighty impressive at around the £450 mark. Where two GPUs and a limitless budget is concerned, NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 480 SLI configuration remains supreme.
