We're off and running, and 3DMark shows us that Core i7's distinct lead in CPU performance translates to a healthy bump in performance on a high-end gaming system.

A Core i7 setup equipped with three GeForce GTX 280 graphics cards shows an overall performance boost of over 10 per cent when compared to a high-end Core 2 machine with the game GPUs. Synthetic benchmarks, then, concur with NVIDIA - Core i7 justifies SLI. But how about the games themselves?
