Power, Temperature and Noise
An increase in board power doesn't deliver dramatic gains in framerate, but the hit to power consumption can be quite surprising. Swapping from the Founders Edition to the JetStream OC sees system-wide power draw increase by almost 15 per cent.
There's no cause for alarm in terms of temperature, mind. Palit's dual-fan cooler isn't as impressive as MSI's Gaming X Trio, yet 75ºC under load is perfectly cool.
There is a snag, however, in that noise levels do ramp-up noticeably when the going gets tough. To our surprise, the JetStream OC is actually noticeably louder than the Founders Edition when installed inside our test platform, and switching to the Silent BIOS makes no appreciable difference.
