Overclocking

We've been encouraged by what we've seen of the tuning options available within AMD's Adrenalin 2020 Edition app. Easier to digest than WattMan, the interface is accessible to both novices and more adventurous users, and despite occasional misreporting of clock speeds in third-party utilities, we didn't experience any major bugs while trying to overclock the Radeon RX 5500 XT.

It is a shame memory frequency is limited to an effective 14.9Gbps - a ceiling we expect every partner card to be able to reach - but boost clock happily climbed from 1,845MHz to 2,066MHz with minimal fuss.

Gaining an extra five per cent takes very little effort, and with a custom frequency curve and some voltage adjustments, there's scope to go a little bit further.
