DOOM 3
Moving on to id's excellent DOOM 3, tested in high-quality mode that automatically applies 8x Anisotropic Filtering for beautiful visuals. 1280x1024, the sweetspot resolution for the 6600 GT, is eminently playable.
Adding 4x AntiAliasing, which takes 4 samples per pixel and is based on a rotated grid pattern for better coverage, cleans up the 'jaggies' often most noticeable at lower resolutions. The performance cost of implementing it at 1280x1024 is a 55% frame-rate drop, making the game sticky and slow in a number of places. DOOM 3's a fast-paced, frenetic game for the most part, so you shouldn't be idle in any one place to notice a lack of edge aliasing, really. 1280x1024 is where it's at.
