The latest instalment in the Gears of War series delivers heart-stopping action and the developers at The Coalition deserve genuine credit for proving that high-profile ports can be every bit as stunning as their console counterparts, if not more so.
The ability to hold those high frequencies is most keenly felt at the higher resolutions, where the onus shifts from CPU to GPU and every last drop of graphics horsepower truly matters. Performance at 4K UHD in Gears of War 4 is almost 15 per cent better than the Founders Edition - that's enough to break past the coveted 60fps target.
