We've established that the Pentium G3220 has two capable Haswell cores and a stellar memory interface, but is it able to handle more demanding workloads? All available cores are used when encoding high-definition video with HandBrake, and the cheap-and-so-far-cheerful Pentium does reasonably well to average just over 33 frames per second.

LuxMark utilises the CPU and GPU components of all the chips on show, and it's the first sign of the Pentium's potential weak spot: the Intel HD integrated graphics processor isn't particularly quick. Interesting to note, however, that we're seeing the first visible benefits of using dual-channel memory, which suggests that the IGP stands to benefit from using two sticks.

The Musemage image-manipulation test comes highly recommended by AMD due to its OpenCL performance, and is the first benchmark thus far to put the budget Athlon ahead of the similarly-priced Pentium.
