When it comes to applications that bash each CPU's FPU, AMD's Athlon 64 architecture is clearly superior. In fact, the Athlon 64 FX-60 is almost 50% faster than Intel's latest-and-greatest in our raytracing test. Additional cores don't help at all, as you can divine from the single-core 3.73GHz Extreme Edition's results.

Very similar overall performance to the raytracing test. The undisputed FPU champion remains the FX range, and the single-core FX-57 wins out thanks to its 2.8GHz clockspeed.
