Benchmarks III
Having looked at the processors numeric and data manipulation performance we turn our attention to the tests that show how the XP3000+ performs with graphics and gaming.
3DMark SE 2001
The XP3000+ and its increased L2 cache have made a great difference to the 3D Mark performance of the processor producing an additional 275 marks on the XP2800. This would seem to be directly in line with AMD’s rating of the XP3000+.
The AMD’s do not however keep pace with the Intel processor in 3D Mark. Even with the Barton running at XP2800 speeds it is still 75 points behind the P4 running at its stock speed.
We should remember that 3D Mark is again more of a theoretical test than real games, so let’s move on and see the performance with some of the more popular games.
