Memory bandwidth, latency, and light-load tests

The bandwidth figure is an average of the read and write speeds reported by the benchmark.

Memory bandwidth and latency analysis shows that the 975 BE fits in well with existing AMD chips. But the bars also show the new Core 2011 processor is better.

We've used HEXUS.PiFast for several years now. It provides a reasonable gauge for the processor's math ability when running a light-load test. High frequencies and handy IPC counts serve well here.

A lack of Turbo CORE boost and the relatively excellent IPC exhibited by the 2500K puts the 975 BE in the shade.

And that's also true in the MP3 encoding test.
