Gaming - discrete and IGP

The gaming tests are carried out with a discrete Radeon HD 5850 as the primary video card.

There's greater deviation in low-resolution Far Cry 2, where processor oomph plays a larger part in overall performance. Anything over 100fps can be considered good for a mid-range CPU.

But play the game properly at 1,680x1,050 4xAA 16xAF DX10 and the CPUs don't impact upon performance to any significant degree.

IGP

Here's the same Far Cry 2 1,024x768 DX9 graph. We take account of the IGP performance this time. It's clear and obvious that the HD Graphics and HD 4290 are no match for high-end discrete card, obviously - 128fps vs. 19.45fps for Scan - but the quartet of IGPs produce just-playable frame-rates.
