Here is where the extra thread muscle really counts. The Core i5-9400 is no slouch, but it takes nearly 50 per cent longer than the Ryzen 5 2600X.
Perhaps the poster-child of having more cores and threads at your disposal, there's nothing Core i5 can do against the heavy ammunition of the Ryzens. Intel really ought to have hyperthreading on these mid-range chips.
Going back to everyday use, PCMark 10 corroborates our findings that regular use feels similar on all platforms.
