Benchmarks: CPU I
We would expect Intel to maintain a healthy lead in the light-load PiFast test, and it does, eclipsing both Ryzens by over 20 per cent. That said, used on an everyday basis, we found it difficult to tell the difference between the systems.
However, if your application is able to harness the full power of the CPUs, the Ryzen duo is markedly faster. The same-priced Ryzen 5, for example, hits back and is roughly 20 per cent faster in both HandBrake and Cinebench R20. Extra speed matters more for these kinds of applications because they can take much longer to complete.
