Corona is the only application in which the 8700K is quicker. On an equal frequency footing, one would expect Intel's 6C12T and 8C8T designs to be about the same speed.

Again, if your workloads can truly take advantage of as many cores and threads as possible, rival AMD offers more performance at a much lower street price.
