Far Cry 5 1080p performance remains relatively poor on these Threadripper chips. Even the 2920X is 40 per cent behind the Core i7-8700K, and the thread contention for the 2970WX puts it even further behind.
One can argue you don't need all that much performance at 1080p because the frame-rate is already high, yet we're concerned with just how far the pair are from the Intel cohort.
Matters look up in F1 2017 and Middle-earth: Shadow of War, where 1080p performance, whilst obviously behind, is much closer.
