Overclocking

Our sample proved to be a decent 'clocker, hitting an all-core 4.2GHz with 1.3V. 4.3GHz was stable in all but the longer Blender test. There was no evidence of throttling and maximum temperature was reported as 73.8°C.

Going for an all-core speed disables Precision Boost 2, and this is why the PiFast score falls a hair behind.

We're seeing enough extra performance to leapfrog a stock-clocked Core i9-7980XE.

Gaming doesn't receive nearly such a great boost. Average 1080p frame rate went up by less than three per cent across our titles.
