System Noise

Noise is an interesting topic as most liquid coolers aren't usually as quiet as they're made out to be. With the Liqtech 120X, we initially found the pump a little noisy for our liking and had to manually adjust fan-speed voltage in order to slow the unit down. Lowering speed by just a fraction appeared to make the pump inaudible, with no discernible impact on performance.

For our idle noise reading, we had the pump toned-down and the fans set to a quiet profile. In this scenario, the cooler as a whole keeps nice and quiet and is in keeping with some of the better air coolers. For our under-load reading, the fans were set to a balanced profile and started to exhibit audible vibration. Enermax tells us that it has identified an issue with early samples, and claims to have "improved the balance" of the fans shipped with retail models. Either way, this is already one of the quietest all-in-one liquid coolers we've tested.
