Athlon Freezer Pro

When I got my Athlon 700 system, I knew it would generate heat - a LOT of heat. When I started overclocking, the heat became a problem. My stock Intel heat sink wasn't going to cut it any more, so I decided to turn to 3Dcool.com. I got an Athlon Freezer Pro, which is actually the same as the Athlon Freezer, but has some additional chrome fan guards on it.

When I took it out of the nicely packaged box, I began to realize just how big this sucker is. It was well over two times as wide as my stock Intel heat sink. In fact after I put it in, I found it blocked one DIMM slot on my Asus K7V, which is a board that's known for pretty generous room for the heat sink and fan.

the hype from 3dcool.com: Overclockers wanted. This is the largest and most incredibly powerful Athlon or Pentium II fan on the market. There is nothing better than this for a heat sink and fan combo, not even an Alpha. Two undeniably large 60x60 fans on top blow 46CFM of air onto a wicked huge heat sink. We know the Athlons can be overclocked, but get really hot, and this is the answer.

This version includes chrome grills on the top of the fans for a spiffier look. There are no performance differences between the Athlon Freezer and the Athlon Freezer Pro, simply looks.

Here are the stats on it: ·

Dual Double ball bearing 60x60 fans

· Fits all AMD Athlon and Intel Pentium II CPUs

· Chrome Grills covering both fans for a killer look

· 36dbA Noise Level

· 23CFM of air flow per fan, 46CFM total

· 4200RPM fans

· 120x58x34mm total

· Largest heat sink you'll find

· Easy 5 second install process with our custom snap clips

· HUGE HUGE HUGE!

· Lifetime Warranty The unit is artwork in itself.

I wanted to leave my case open just so I could show it off to the world. The anodized metal looks pretty sweet if I do say so myself.
really, who cares what it looks like, how does it perform?

This is where the real beauty of the Athlon Freezer Pro comes in. With the two high output fans, it was able to cool my extremely overclocked Athlon down THIRTY degrees from a stock Intel heat sink. No, that's not a misprint, THIRTY degrees - From 140F to 110F.

When I ran my Athlon at its intended 700mhz, it ran 5 degrees above room temperature! This thing is incredible. When they claim it's better than an Alpha, they weren't joking! For $31.50 you really can't go wrong with the Athlon Freezer Pro.
