Installation and Results

Installation

The drivers come in two packages, the kernel module and the GLX drivers. If you are running on a redhat system there are rpms, otherwise you need to hand install. Simply untar and gzip the two packages go into the directories created and make install, very very easy. Start X and you will have hardware 3D.

Test Bed

The tests that were conducted: a quake3arena timedemo at different resolutions.

And here are the results:






As you can see the results are amazing, the performance is unprecedented, the high quality result have not been published due to some slight glitches with quake3 and this system. With 32bit the FPS results are very similar to that of the 16bit which is nice, although 32bit drops off a lot more rapidly than 16bit.
