NZXT obviously has fan filters in the factory, so its omission on the fans previously mentioned is a bit odd. Mind you, that's not as odd as the filter in the floor of the chassis that doesn’t even have a fan on it!
In fairness, NZXT has fitted this to allow airflow through the floor of the chassis and it’s good to see the company paying explicit attention to cooling.
Popping off the front we find yet another fan. This time it's a 120mm and it’s filtered. We find it hard to comprehend why some fans are shipped with appropriate filters in place and some aren't.
Both the 3.5in and 5.25in bays feature twist-out metal plates.
Ladies and gentlemen, let us introduce you to fan number eight - a petite number hiding up top, 80mm in size - it's mounted internally using fan screws with no vibration padding or filtering.
As if having a little dust-catching screecher in the Zero wasn’t enough, it manages to rub you up the wrong way even more when you have to fit your PSU.
We don’t know how or why, but NZXT has released a chassis where you have to remove the top fan to fit the PSU, and we're not talking one of those odd-shaped ones: we use a regular-sized Corsair HX620W PSU.
After having a little tantrum we removed the fan, fitted the PSU and screwed the fan back in, connecting it up to yet another molex. The fan uses tapping-screws and there are only so many times you would be able to remove it before you need to replace it. Solution for this? Mount the fan in a plastic-clip bracket.
