Performance

We suspect most users are going to enhance the Source 530's cooling with custom configurations, but if for the time being you've decided to stick with the two pre-installed fans, you should find that the setup works reasonably well.

Our overclocked Core i5-3570K processor ran well within the limits, even when subjected to a stressful run of Prime95.

GPU cooling performance is less promising. Remember, the chassis doesn't have a front intake as standard, and this clearly has an impact on graphics-card cooling. Our dual Radeon HD 7950 OC cards didn't run into any problems, yet we'd recommend adding at least one front fan: doing so would no doubt shave a few degrees off under-load temperature.

From a noise perspective, the Source 530 delivers middle-of-the-pack results. On the one hand there are only two chassis fans, but on the other hand you have plenty of mesh openings. As a consequence, NZXT's enclosure isn't too loud when idle, but as expected, it becomes clearly audible under load.
