A beta version of the AMD Gaming Evolved App has been launched by AMD and Raptr. This new application is designed to provide optimised settings for your games based upon the hardware in your PC. In addition rewards and unlockables are available to users of the app and there is some social functionality built in – to allow you to broadcast, watch and chat while you play.
The Raptr blog wrote about why the app was developed; “PC gaming is the pinnacle of high-fidelity gaming, with amazing technology and performance — but it’s not always easy. Users have to do the optimizing themselves, which can lead to bad gaming experiences.” The new AMD Gaming Evolved App addresses this issue and more, in fact “it’s designed to make PC gaming systems as easy to use as consoles.”
The new app can optimise supported games with a single click and users can choose an optimisation target “based on performance, quality, or a balance of both.” For a new service there’s quite a good list of games supported, with the usual promise of “more coming soon”. Check out the games supported list below:

So it sounds a lot like how Nvidia’s GeForce Experience program works. However HardwareHeaven has noted major differences in how the game optimisation data is sourced. The site says that “While NVIDIA has dedicated teams of people running games through countless combinations of hardware to find the optimal settings for a given hardware configuration, Gaming Evolved relies on Raptr's 16-million strong community.” The Raptr community site gathers anonymous game settings and hardware configuration detail from that very large community and then after “collaborative filtering” we are left with the recommended settings as used by the AMD Gaming Evolved App.
The other main features of the new AMD/Raptr optimisation app are the rewards and social sharing features. I don’t have a lot of info about the rewards but it looks like there are full games and game oriented hardware available to community members. “Earn real rewards just for using the Gaming Evolved app while you play. The more you play, the more rewards you'll unlock!” Also we are informed that AMD Gaming Evolved App users can “Broadcast live video via Twitch, watch streams, take screenshots, and share them on Raptr, Facebook, and Twitter without ever leaving your game!”
