AMD has just posted a new set of drivers for its Radeon graphics-cards, bringing the Catalyst software up to version 10.11 for Windows and Linux.

Performance highlights this month are limited to an increase of up to three per cent in Battleforge and five per cent in Stalker - Call of Pripyat with single-card and Crossfire HD 5800 set-ups.

There are quite a few issues that have been resolved as well, including flickering in World of Warcraft played in 3D and anomalies with CrossFire in World in Conflict and Battelfield Bad Company 2. Changes have also been made to the Overdrive feature in Catalyst Control Centre which was preventing some overclocked cards from dropping down to lower speeds when idle.

While AMD has recommended this update for most users, 'enthusiasts' - which pretty much means gamers - running HD 5000 or HD 6800 cards under Windows 7 should go for the recently-released Catalyst 10.10e drivers instead.

As well as bringing Catalyst AI and Morphological Anti-Aliasing to the 5000-series cards, the update supports OpenGL 4.1 beta and improves CrossFire performance in Metro 2033, F1 2011, Dead Rising 2 and Fallout New Vegas. There are also specific optimisations for the 6800-series cards running Aliens versus Predator, Starcraft 2 and games based on OpenGL.

All of these fixes will be rolled into the Catalyst 10.12 update next month, but for now, gamers with newer GPUs are encouraged to stick with - or upgrade to - the 10.10e hotfix.

More details on Catalyst 10.10e can be found along with download links here. Catalyst 10.11 is available to download here, or can be updated through Steam.

Soooooo much better than 10/10 which ran like 3-legged sloth with a bad hip on my machine.
I have been using one of the modded 10.10 drivers for Morphological Anti-Aliasing on my 5850 and it is a blessing.

Makes Batman AA, Ghostbusters and Starwars the force unleashed playable and makes GTA 4 look a little nicer.

So 10.10e seems to be the one for me.
Why should we be going for the Catalyst 10.10e drivers instead of the newer 10.11 drivers?

Also do the 10.10e drivers come as a display driver only download as I don't like to install all that extra stuff that comes with the full package?
Caution on my part. The 10.11 are WHQL certified.
Doesn't mean I wion't try the 10.10e later though.
Interestingly, it's still ATI catalyst?
