Assassin's warfare on PS3 charts
According to the UK's leading videogames trade body, ELSPA (The Entertainment and Leisure Software Publishers Association) Assassin's Creed II has stealthily snuck up behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and blown it out of the water to second place in the PS3 charts.
Released just a week after MW2, Assassin's Creed II seems to have been patiently biding its time, waiting for just the right moment - before Christmas - to stick a dagger in MW2's back.
Since the PS3 lacks some of the big games rival consoles have, Sony has actually been pushing ACII hard with massive ad campaigns, which may explain why the game has managed to knock MW2 off the top of the charts on that particular console, while MW2 remains victorious in terms of the Xbox charts.
Another reason ACII is apparently seeing more success on the PS3 could be because the game actually makes use of the impressive hardware to make it look really good when compared to how the game appears on the Xbox.
Gaming site GamesWire actually posted a series of screenshots showing the differences between the two consoles in terms of ACII and the difference is actually quite remarkable.
Of course both games are multi-platform, but MW2 has always been more of a 360 game anyway with the PC version and PS3 version seeming to come about more as an afterthought.
Still, in terms of overall chart dominance, MW2 is continuing to go great guns, keeping its position at number one, just ahead of Wii Sports Resort, with ACII at number three.
