Shinier than ever

Search giant Google has released an updated beta of its search engine - Chrome. There don't seem to have been a ton of changes, but Google is claiming it's speedier than ever and had been tarted up a tad.

Among the more cosmetic tweaks are a customisable new tab page and an improved Omnibox, as well as a bunch of new themes. Google has thoughtfully provided video clips explaining these improvements, which you can see below.

On the more techie side, as well as a claimed 30 percent speed improvement, Google has started building HTML5 capabilities into this beta release, including video tag functionality and web workers.

You can download the new beta here, or just just read more about it here.

Fantastic, thanks for the heads up.
I'd really love to try out Chrome, but the lack of a mac version from google makes it a non starter.

You'd think they'd be keen to get it on as many machines as possible.
New Beta installed.

Tis Indeed faster!

Well Google don't have a version, but it's worth checking out the open sourced counterpart if they do or not.

Yeah I was aware of the alternative, but I'm going to wait until google sort themselves out. :)
