Are good looks enough?

Another enhancement over AMD Live! Explorer is the user interface and graphics in general. This, apparently, is why is can't run on Windows XP.

Why it doesn't run on Windows 7 beta, however, remains unexplained. Gotcher's blog promises FME will be able to run on Windows 7 soon and, given that the kind of people who will try the beta of FME are likely to be running Windows 7 too, it can't come soon enough.

On the whole FME looks like a useful and fun piece of software. Most people have tonnes of digital media festering on their hard drives, which they probably don't access nearly as frequently as they'd like to. FME enables you to get to it quickly and intuitively.

What's not so obvious is how big an upgrade this is over AMD Live! Explorer and what advantages it offers over the many other media managers available. Those enhancements need to be clear to see if AMD wants to avoid accusations of having merely repackaged an old product, something we're sure it wants to avoid.

We urge those of you who can run FME to give it a test run and then let us know what you think in the HEXUS.community discussion forums.
