November's revision of AMD's Catalyst drivers, v8.11, are now available to download from game.amd.com.

The release, available for Windows XP and Windows Vista, brings the Radeon display driver up from version 8.541 to version 8.552, and provides two healthy performance boosts for Radeon HD 3000 and 4000-series products.

Ubisoft's graphically-demanding Far Cry 2 is said to receive a single-GPU performance boost of 3-10 per cent, and multi-GPU CrossFire users can expect to see gains in the region of 8-14 per cent.

The second jump in performance applies to GSC Game World's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. AMD promises single-GPU gains of 6-18 per cent and CrossFire improvements of up to 30 per cent.

On the new-feature front, Catalyst 8.11 adds HydraVision support to Windows XP, and there's a lengthy list of resolved issues.

For a complete breakdown of what Catalyst 8.11 has to offer, including all the resolved issues, please refer to the official release notes at game.amd.com.

Wooptie-doo..a new version of catalyst that boosts performance.. How `bout they get their ass in gear and fix that damn atikmdag.sys problem? It`s been years and still no solution.. That`s why next month I`m switching to the green team, perhaps then I can actually start vista on the first try instead of seeing BSODs 5 times before it actually starts!!

nice job ati, heck of a 4xxx series, with lousy drivers to boot :angst:
My average framerate on the Far Cry 2 Ranch playback demo went from 30.31 to 32.14. :rockon2:

I've had zero problems in 64 bit fista ultimate with an x1950 Pro/ HD3870 and my current HD4850 and update regularly to the newest drivers on my Qbic 2500XP-M/ x1600 512MB machine so I can play TF2 etc on it as well as the beast. Shame you're having issues with your installation, maybe something else is to blame! :secret:
well initially i thought so too..until i looked at the BSODs more carefully. ALL of them said that the problem occurred in the file atikmdag.sys, which is part of the catalyst drivers. so it`s fairly obvious who`s to blame here
