If you happen to have purchased an ASUS notebook recently, you may find more than you'd hoped for on its bundled recovery disc.
Various ASUS customers have reported that they've found a selection of misplaced directories containing software cracks, serial numbers and confidential documents.
The dodgy files are known to be found on ASUS-branded Windows Vista recovery discs, and owners of the ASUS F3JC and VX2 notebooks have confirmed their existence.
The files are located in the windows/configsetroot folder, and there's a second suspicious subfolder named "cracks". Inside, users have found a cracked version of WinRAR - a popular compression package - as well as serial numbers for various other applications. Confidential documents from both Microsoft and ASUS are also said to be on the disc, and they're thought to detail major compatibility issues.
Whilst we're all checking our ASUS discs for any other goodies, the Taiwan-based manufacturer states that it's investigating the matter.
