Freecom has today announced its Slimline Mobile DVD RW Recorder LS Pro. Despite its lengthy name, the drive is a small, slim solution for today's ultra-portable but drive-less notebooks.
The drive, pictured below, is compatible with both PCs and MAC computers, and Freecom tells us it's small enough to fit in your pocket. It measures just 17mm x 144mm x 140mm, and weighs 600g.
The Mobile DVD RW Recorder LS Pro offers both USB 2.0 and FireWire connectivity, and also offers LightScribe functionality. The aluminium casing is said to provide a "professional look" and the drive is bundled with a five-pack of CD-R LightScribe media and the Roxio & Toast software package.
Not a bad little solution, but MacBook Air users will no doubt be put off by Freecom's £80 price-tag. Particularly when you consider that Apple's more stylish MacBook Air SuperDrive costs just £65. On the other hand, Freecom's solution will work with a wide variety of devices, and has the added bonus of LightScribe.
