Today Thermaltake has written to HEXUS to inform us about its new notebook cooler called the 'Satellite'. This is a 2-in-1 twin fan notebook cooler and twin speaker audio system design that is also meant to be ergonomic, compact to store and easy to carry.
The Thermaltake Satellite comes as a cuboid whole but splits into two triangular sections, each containing a 50mm fan and a "high quality" speaker. This triangular sections unfold if need be, depending how you want to position the cooling fans, see below. Thermaltake informs us that the design was made by students and has won a Computex d&i award.
The Thermaltake Satellite (CL-N006-PL05BL-A) has the following specifications:
- Compatibility: For 10-inch to 17-inch notebook
- Dimensions: 118.5 x 96.5 x 106 mm
- Weight: 326 g
- Colour: Black
- Material: Plastic
- Rated Current: 0.1A
- Rated Voltage: 5V
- Fan Speed: 2500 R.P.M
- Noise: 21.56 dBA
- Air Flow: 1.32 CFM
- Air Pressure: 2.42 mm-H2O
- Frequency Response: 270Hz~20 KHz
As you can see from the pictures the Satellite facilitates multiple laptop keyboard-slope angles depending upon how you position them and/or unfold the speaker and cooling fan sections. The design of the 2-in-1 accessory can therefore improve your laptop use ergonomics as well as providing extra cooling and enhanced speakers. Another pleasing aspect of the design is the portability of the Satellite system, probably an important consideration for many laptop users at whom this is aimed. All the wires can be stored inside the device and the Satellite has its own "elegant cover" storage box (see below).
The two 50mm cooling fans can run up to 2,500 RPM, we are told. However Thermaltake doesn't say how the speed of the fans is regulated, if at all. If you have a laptop that runs pretty hot, has puny built-in-speakers and would benefit from the 'ergonomics' on offer from the Satellite stand options this could be a good fit for your needs.
