Most overclockers would probably agree that liquid is the way to go in order to reach the highest speeds. But according to Thermaltake air coolers shouldn't be overlooked, and there aren't likely to be many more formidable than its upcoming Frio OCK.

The CPU cooler - which is currently doing the rounds on YouTube - is designed for OverClocking Kings (see what they did there?) and can deliver a massive 240W of cooling power. In order to achieve this kind of performance, the monstrous cooler uses of six large heatpipes and two fin-towers flanked by a pair of 130mm fans.

This should produce enough cooling for all but the most aggressive overclocks, given that even power-hungry CPUs tend to have TDPs below 130W at stock settings.

The manufacturer claims that this is the most powerfully cooler that it's ever built, but we wouldn't be surprised if it's the biggest and heaviest as well. A HSF of this size is sure to weigh a fair bit - which always makes us a little bit nervous - and it looks like you'll need a pretty spacious motherboard to accommodate the substantial footprint.

Of course, we won't know for certain until the Frio OCK is released, which will be at some point in February according to the teaser video. Other details are sparse, but at the very least we'd expect it to support the latest Intel CPUs using LGA1155 and LGA1156.

To get a first glimpse at this king among coolers - as well as some circa 1997 computer animation - check out the teaser, embedded below.

I am sure it will perform well, but wonder at what price?
What I want to know is, when are we gonna start seeing gaming heat sinks? I need more FPSes to pwn n00bs!!
I'll go with a closed water loop and not warp my mobo. thank you very much.
