London, UK, 27th August 2008, –  Paragon Software Group (PSG), the technology leader in innovative data security and data management solutions, today announced the immediate availability of Drive Backup 9.0 Express.  This new version of Paragon’s award-winning Drive Backup data and system backup software provides both home PC and home office users with basic backup and recovery tools and the ability to create a bootable flash drive, making it possible to recover an entire PC.  Simple to install and easy to use, Drive Backup Express is being offered by Paragon for free, giving users a hassle free first step towards complete PC protection.

According to industry reports, there is a huge population of users that are still not backing up, even though there are a number of back up options available.   Paragon’s goal is to show PC users that backing up is very simple.

Konstantin Komarov. CEO of Paragon Software explained that, “Backing up data today ensures recovery tomorrow, and acts as an insurance policy against virus attacks, user error and failed hardware.   In the past, consumers have been wary of backup and recovery solutions, finding them to be too difficult, cumbersome and expensive.  With Drive Backup Express, Paragon is breaking down these barriers for consumers by offering a simple, effective solution at no cost.”

Paragon Drive Backup Express enables users to easily create an exact image of their PC, including the operating system, applications, user settings and all data files.  This allows for complete restoration of the entire PC in minutes after a virus attack or drive failure, and eliminates time-consuming reinstallations or reconfigurations.

Drive Backup Express also gives users the ability to create a complete, sector-based recovery point, and save it to a USB Flash drive or CD/DVD, which can be used in the event of operating system or hard disk failure.  Through the use of Paragon’s Recovery Wizard, users can access and recover their system to the previously made backup point.

Other key features include:

  • Live Backup: Paragon Hot Backup® technology creates backup images without restarting Windows
  • Storage options for backups - Save backup images to local drives or external USB or firewire devices
  • Check archive validity of existing archives or verify when creating new ones
  • Restore an entire hard disk, separate partitions or any combination of disks and partitions from one archive
  • Create bootable USB Flash drive, CD/DVD to recover your PC on demand
  • Simple, easy to understand interface:  Intuitive Wizard driven user interface for the majority of operations and contextual help for all user interface controls

“With Drive Backup Express, Paragon is giving end users that are currently not running a backup or recovery programme on their PC the basic survival tools they need – for free,” continued Komarov. “One of our company’s goals is to remove the apathy plaguing consumers when it comes to backing up and encourage them to act with confidence, as we believe that this is beneficial for the PC industry as a whole.  The more positive experiences consumers have when using their computers, the more apt they will be to use them more often and try new applications. With the basics for essential PC protection covered, users may then choose to upgrade as they see fit to meet their individual needs, through Paragon’s upgrade path, which includes a range of products offering more advanced backup tools and recovery options.”
