Computer Trade Shopper

Print publication for the IT trade, Computer Trade Shopper, has announced in an e-mail today that its latest issue will be the last.

In the e-mail announcing the 21st December edition of the digital version of CTS, Paul Kunert, Editor of the publication enclosed a message informing subscribers of the bad news:

This decision has been taken due to the difficult market conditions which have reduced marketing spend in our marketplace. This trend looks likely to continue into the future so we have decided to cease publishing with immediate effect.

This is a year in which we've seen more than one print magazine run into trouble, with the enthusiast oriented GigaHz magazine suspending its operations in July. The words of Computer Trade Shopper's editor suggest that advertisers are spending less on getting ads into print publications these days, perhaps looking towards the Internet as their new killer marketing tool?

Is the day of the print magazine numbered, or are we simply experiencing the result of a saturated market? We'd love to hear what you think.

I wouldn't say I read it, just looked at the pictures. :p

Was certainly surprised to see the ‘this will be the last ever CTS’ in the copy that dropped on my desk this morning though.
