A new music phone from Motorola and Apple looks set to be launched today, with availability in the US being as soon as the end of the week. There have been rumours of an iTunes phone for a while, however Apple have been keeping quiet until recently.
Music phones are not new, but an iTunes based phone is generating a lot of hype. So, are music phones the new camera phone?
The first generation music phone will, according to some, have little impact, given the teething problems you can run into with new technology. It should, however, pave the way for future successes. Motorola certainly seem to be on a winner at the moment. The Razr slimline phone is very popular and continues to be marketed aggressively in the UK.
According to the Chicago Tribune Motorola's new iTunes phone will operate on Cingular's network in the US. Naturally, there's no word on UK providers from the same source. However, if music phones do take off, the provider that can coin some level of exclusivity over the most popular product is sure to see some healthy sales figures.
