Super Skifta?
Skifta has become the first app to be certified by the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) under its new Software Certification program.
The app-based media shifting device developed by Qualcomm Services Labs, allows users to access and play digital media from almost any source whether it is accessed on a phone, from the cloud or remotely from home.
Consumers can then stream this media to DLNA Certified consumer electronics such as TVs, Windows 7 PCs, PlayStation 3 consoles and other products via their Android smartphones and tablets.
Analysts reckon there will be almost 2 billion DNLA certified devices in homes across the world by 2014 and the Skifta app aims to be well placed to take advantage of the rapid adoption of DNLA gadgets, growing desire of On-Demand streaming services and swift smartphone take-up.
The Skifta Beta app is currently available as a free download for phones running Android 2.2 or higher.
