Nokia's new N8 handset will be the first phone to come pre-loaded with the Virgin Media Player app, which lets customers watch mobile TV on demand.
The app is also available for N8 customers to download free form the Ovi store on any network, which should boost interest in the new Symbian 3 offering.
The Virgin Media Player app gives mobile users access to content from 4od, Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon and has been rolled out on the handset as part of Virgin's strategy to let its customers watch content across TV, online and mobile platforms.
Nokia's N8 is designed to be entertainment friendly and touts an HD video camera, HDMI connection and hefty 12MP camera as well as coming pre-loaded with the BBC iPlayer and YouTube apps.
Jonathan Kini, director of mobile at Virgin Media said, "The Nokia N8 is a fantastic entertainment handset and the perfect launch partner for our new Virgin Media Player app. With more and more consumers enjoying entertainment on the go, the combination of the Virgin Media Player service and the Nokia N8 provide a compelling way for consumers to keep up with their favourite shows as well as enjoy best in class connectivity features to stay in touch with family and friends."
