Ever get the feeling society is becoming too reliant on smartphones? They are incredible gadgets, there's no doubt about that, yet I find myself becoming increasingly irked by so-called smartphone addiction. I'm talking about people walking down the street with their eyes fixed on their phone, others taking calls while at the dinner table, and of course, that one individual who insists on refreshing their social feeds every five minutes in the cinema.
Smartphone users in the States are said to be checking their phones more than nine billion times per day, up 13 per cent since 2015, and similar studies suggest that nearly two-thirds of all consumers check their phone within 15 minutes of waking up.
Some might call it an epidemic, while others may view smartphone usage as progress. Either way, it's an interesting topic so for this week's question we're asking: are you addicted to your smartphone?
