Huge credit to Yoostar support though. The team working on the official Facebook page have been brilliant, offering a wide range of solutions and tips to get better quality and reacting quickly to sort out a few technical issues that plagued the opening couple of days of launch. Still, unless you already own, or are willing to fork out for this kind of set-up, expect to look a little fuzzy on screen. Also, a little disappointing are the detection problems with Kinect as you try and navigate through the menus. Hopefully, a patch will be brought out for this shortly, but at the moment it’s as much of a challenge selecting scenes as it is acting in them.

Kinect does, however, capture audio perfectly and it's entertaining to hear and see yourself on screen trying to mimic your idols, no matter how fuzzy the footage is. On the other hand, the system it uses to score you is all over the place. I watched very closely as my wife delivered a near perfect performance from ‘Princess Bride, only to be rated 2 stars and be told she kept over-running her lines; whereas a shocking performance by me as Dorothy meeting the Scarecrow in the ‘Wizard Of Oz’ got 5 stars even though I deliberately delivered lines too early and overran them. Having a scoring system that doesn’t do what it’s supposed to do can be very frustrating.

Nonetheless, for all its technical shortcomings, Yoostar 2 is fun to play with the highlight really coming from watching your videos back, having them rated and then judging others. With so much new content coming up, there’s bound to a hardcore section of the community that will stick with it, invest in some decent lighting, dress up, use props and get the most out of Yoostar 2. However, while these people will undoubtedly have a great time, others will be bitterly disappointed by the low quality video, Kinect detection problems and a scoring system that seems to just make it up as it goes along.

haha, so embarassing. Can't help but do that accent for every scene though
