Eat dirt, worm!

Of course, any true blooded Worms game would be nothing without the weaponry, and Worms 4: Mayhem has an arsenal NATO would envy. The old favourites are here in the form of the trusty bazooka, the hand grenade and cluster bomb, as well as the less damaging bits of kit like the ninja rope and jet pack. Those uber-weapons are back too, so make way for the holy hand grenade and the little old lady but accompanying them are new weapons such as the Poison Arrow which causes damage each round, the Tail Nail which slams a worm into the ground, pinning him there until the surrounding ground is removed and the awesome sentry gun which makes mince meat of any worm foolish enough to cross it’s path.

But the explosive fun doesn’t stop there, oh no. New for Worms 4: Mayhem is the create-a-weapon section where you, er, create a weapon. Ok, that didn’t come out right. What I mean is that in here you can pick from a list of attributes to knock up a designer weapon, all of your own making. Now this isn’t a limitless resource as you only have a certain number of points to spend, but it does let you go mad maxing out certain qualities. So if you fancy you can make an uber-hand grenade that is devastating to worms but leaves the scenery intact… or a massive rocket grenade that has very little drop in flight but may not do much damage at all… or how about a cute and cuddly toy that explodes in a cloud of poisonous gas? The choice is yours.
