Let's wrap it up...
When I jumped into my first race across the stunning San Ysidro Mountains it was hard to keep my eyes on the road - the locations look absolutely gorgeous - but the thrill of the ride and dynamics of car handling are also worthy of the highest praise. The crashes and the way in which cars warp under pressure and wrap themselves around barriers and walls are unmatched. The game still bears all the hallmarks of the classic McRae experience, but Codemasters has enhanced every aspect to make this rally racing game feel more realistic than ever before. I'm disappointed with what Codemasters have decided to do with the online aspect of things, but in no way is going to stop me buying a Force Feedback Wheel and a copy of Colin McRae: Dirt this summer. Colin McRae: Dirt looks ready to set a new benchmark for rally games.
We'll have more on the single player campaign shortly.
