Where sound is your weapon

The City Of Metronome for the PS3 is a third person adventure where sound will be your main weapon.

In a ‘George Orwell’ inspired city, where the powers that be govern the entire population, inhabitants are slaves to society. Every day they travel to their overcrowded ‘city of labour’ on huge steam trains, work their fingers to the bone, then head back to their dreary, crowded apartments.

“As the sun rises over Metronome, thousands of citizens board the huge steam trains that will carry them into the city. Your job as an apprentice train engineer is usually very simple during the early rush; check that everyone’s work-order is valid, record their voice ticket and then clear your cart for departure. Now the entire passenger coach has gone quiet. Everyone stares expectantly at you and the raven-haired girl in the back of the cart. She looks distantly out of the window, ignoring the fact that her work-order is missing, not to mention the strange coincidence of your voice recorder breaking down just as you were checking her voice pass.”

Using sound as a weapon is a unique concept in an adventure game. Your role will be to uncover the secrets behind the corporation. Who is in charge and what is their agenda? Throughout the game you can listen to sounds, record them and then play them back at any point to achieve a certain goal. You will fight enemies with deafening sounds, problem solve with carefully chosen noises, and even use softer sounds to enhance the mood of listeners. You will also be able to create unique sounds and record them for use in the game. By throwing stones at windows, shouting at pedestrians and recording their response you can create sounds that will aid your progress in the game.

The City is carefully constructed with dark winding alleyways, imposing buildings, cobbled streets and dark doorways hiding clues to the corporation’s plans.

Amazingly Team Tarsier have not yet secured a publisher for The City Of Metronome. Although it was originally billed for the PS3 we may still see this game appear on the Xbox 360 as well. Further details of the game will be revealed at E3. We’ll publish the details as soon as we have them
