Yes, yes,… I know. I’ve heard it all, and thought some of it, before. The TOCA series was at it’s best with TOCA 2 and this whole race driver thing is a load of cobblers. Yes, tes, I KNOW, ok? I was there when Race Driver came out with that dodgy storyline and all that guff that got in the way of racing. I stood alongside many others, looking at the gorgeousness of Colin McRae Rally and then staring in disbelief at the mess that Race Driver was. Well, perhaps ‘mess’ is a bit harsh but let’s just say that Race Driver with it’s career mode seemed to be some weird GTA type racing game… or something…
Click for larger imageAnyway, let’s not dwell on the past, let’s look to the future with what the Codies are throwing our way in the form of TOCA Race Driver 3… We’ve been playing the preview code of this little gem for the past week or so and it has to be said that any concerns about dodgy storylines can be laid to rest right now. There’s none of that guff in here. Thankfully, even though the code we’re playing has two months of work left to go into it, there’s no sign of a story driven career mode… It looks like TOCA Race Driver 3 has checked it’s mirrors and is signalling for a return to the formula that made TOCA such a success.
