Kotaku are reporting that a new PSP may be arriving in Spring. The news apparently comes from a Sony insider, and although they only have minimal detail on the new handheld, they claim it will have 8Gb of built in flash memory.

The news is corroborated by P.J. McNealy of the American Technology Research who told Game Industry.biz that "Sony will likely introduce a refresh of the PSP hardware line, including a hard-disk drive PSP and a second PSP with no hard drive but with a significant amount of flash memory on board," he said. "We expect these products in Spring 2007, with the pricing for the hard-drive based model at $199 or above, and the new flash-based one below $199."

The PSP arrived in Europe in September 2005 and up till now has sold over 20 miilion units world-wide.

Sony are currently not commenting on the rumour.
