Atari Europe has today announced the launch of Atari PlayStation classics for the PlayStation 3 and PSP.

The launch of Atari Classics begins with PONG, Missile Command and Centipede all being made available from immediate effect, and over the coming weeks will include more titles.

“Many players first gaming experience would have been with one of Atari’s classic franchises” said John Burns, Vice President and General Manager for Atari Europe, “With a fantastic back catalogue of addictive classics, we look forward to releasing some of the most popular Atari arcade titles of all time to both nostalgic gamers and to a whole new generation of PlayStation 3 and PSP players”.

Other rumoured classics on their way include Asteroids, Lunar Lander and Super Breakout.
