What Rockstar has right now is a game rated outside our spectrum
ManHunt 2 has been banned in the UK and although it's been given the green light in the US, with an Adult Only (AO) rating due to the level of violence in the game, Sony and Nintendo will not allow the game to be released on their systems.
In an interview on Newsweek, with Reginald Fils-Aime, the Nintendo of America president said that their decision not to accept ManHunt 2 on Wii was not down to "an image issue," and that Nintendo have no problem with the overall concept of the game.
"Wii welcomes games rated E, T and M. We haven't approved AO-rated games. I doubt we ever will. What Rockstar has right now is a game rated outside our spectrum, outside any manufacturer's spectrum," said Reggie.
If Rockstar want ManHunt 2 to be a success they really need to have both Sony and Nintendo on board, but they'd need to reduce the level of violence and blood in the game, which would delay its release and still not guarantee that it would pass the rating's system
According to reports, Rockstar are expected to make some alterations to ManHunt 2 in the hope that they can drop it into the M category, which would be suitable for ages 17 and older and would fit into the same band as the likes of the Grand Theft Auto Series and Resident Evil.
