Beware of unsafe roofs…
But my blood was up now and a quick reload had me cowardly shooting one guy in the back before he reached cover. It was probably the luckless bloke I half-throttled earlier. It was then I realised that I’d managed to at least clear the area and for the moment I was under anything more than sporadic, inaccurate fire… time to take out that jammer. One grenade later and the jammer was history but, like the guy sawing the branch he’s sitting on, standing on the veranda of the hut, and setting off a grenade next to it wasn’t the smartest of moves… something I discovered as I plummeted down through the damn thing as it collapsed.Off in the distance I could see a rapidly approaching jeep with a soldier blazing away with the turret mounted machine gun… time to get busy again.
I’ll stop there as I don’t want to spoil it for you, but suffice to say that Crysis has more than proved itself to be one of this show’s most drool worthy games. I know it sounds like I’ve heaped nothing but praise on Crysis but it really is very, very good. More good news is that Crytek are tweaking the multiplayer everyday in hour long sessions at the end of each working day and they have weekly single player tweaking sessions, which tells me that they’re pretty satisfied with the single player campaign. And even better, they’re confident of hitting the announced launch date.
But if I did have one gripe with Crysis it’s the suit voice that tells you the mode you’re in. I know it’s an audio cue so you know what you’ve selected but I hope to god that they implement some sort of icon system in the HUD because if I have to hear the damn suit tell me ‘Maximum Strength’ or ‘Maximum Armour’ etc, I’ll scream… maybe even shorten it to one word, you know, ‘Strength’, ‘Armour’, something like that… You never know, it might even be an option to turn off but I was too busy avoid jeep mounted machine guns to look.
