Stormbreaker, the upcoming action packed adventure from film director Geoffrey Sax contains a star studded cast, including the likes of Ewan McGregor and Mickey Rourke. The Nintendo DS will make its motion picture debut alongside these Hollywood stars as the 'ultimate spy gadget'.

The MI6 hand over a red Nintendo DS to their latest recruit, 14 year old Alex Rider, who then uses a number of game cartridges to transform the handheld into a wiretap detector, a smoke bomb and an eavesdropping device - funky!

Co-producer, Peter Samuelson said that, "Nintendo DS is the perfect fit: Alex's spyware hides in plain sight. Audiences will be thrilled to see how it helps Alex get out of a host of heart-pounding predicaments."

George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications, cheekily commented on the DS's first movie appearance, "...while the Nintendo DS is one of the most versatile gaming systems available, we unfortunately have no plans to make any DS spy-related functions available to the general public."

Stormbreaker is scheduled for release in the U.K on July 21st.

Could the DS possibly gain an Oscar for best supporting role?

Saw the trailer at the cinema last week, and a bit of info on IMDb….. Man, that film looks piss-poor. :D

Let's hope it won't be another Harry Potter type series. :(
So are people going to be expected to pay to sit through a 90 minute advert for the Nintendo DS then or am I being waaaaaayyy too cynical again? :D
